Glorious from beginning to end

⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑  This is a book I resisted reading, though a friend recommended it. I don't know what I expected of it but, whatever that was, this book was a hundred times better than I envisioned. A lyrical love song to the North Carolina marshes it was simply glorious. Add to that a hard luck tale, small town prejudice, a love story, a murder and a court room drama it simply has everything you could want.

But, the beautiful writing is certainly that best bit. It reads as poetry... well, literally and figuratively. I loved the story of Kya and her transformation leading up to the mysterious death of Chase. A really good read that makes me keen to read more from this very talented author.
