What an adventure for Miles and his family

Country People was a thoroughly good comfort read. Different from Daniel Mason's previous outing, North Woods, but just as charming if in a quirkier way. It was easy, familiar, full of feelings of warmth comparable to wrapping up in an old, beloved quilt on a chilly evening. 

It carried a loose almanac quality that documents the settling in of Miles and his family as they uproot from California and transplant themselves in the wilds of Vermont. Complete outsiders, they gradually transform into the ways and sensibilities of the natives in delightful fashion. As Miles's network of friends and acquaintances grows so, too, does his appreciation of what it means to be country people. No longer the curious observer, he fully embarks on this new chapter of his life which transforms him, and by extension, his family, as well. 

Daniel Mason is truly a wizard of prose and Country People is sure to encourage giggles, joy, curiosity  and delight from the reader lucky enough to share this journey with Miles and co.
