Hooray for the long awaited follow-up to The Chestnut Man

5 stars

The creepiest game of hide and seek imaginable, this novel easily equals the power and tension of The Chestnut Man. So excited to read this, I hadn't realised how much I missed Detectives Naia Thulin and Mark Hess. It was like catching up with much loved old friends over a fresh corpse. Twists and turns aplenty, this is a thriller on the highest of levels. Nordic noir gold medal winner, here.

Dark, grim and so inventive, I spent more than a few late nights unable to part with it until I knew what happened next. But once I attained that knowledge there was always another detail I needed to understand. No book has kept me from sleep with such dread/giddy excitement. I really needed a high octane murder investigation to keep me guessing and theorising. It was so exhilarating, utter bliss peeling off the onion layers to find more mysteries beneath. I loved it and am left wanting more please. I hope I won't have to wait so long for the next instalment?
